Geographic Information Science Major, 39 hours: B.S.-Minor Required

Geographic Information Science (GIS) explores how spatial data can be used to better understand and represent the Earth. Students enrolled in this program will gain experience using GIS software to analyze and interpret spatial data from a range of disciplines, as well as basic geographic fundamentals. As GIS is one of the fastest growing industries in today’s job market, this program will provide students with the necessary tools to be knowledgeable and competitive in the world of geospatial technology.

Note:


GEOG 32101  and GEOG 32102  fulfill Northwest Core requirements as well as requirements of the major, but the number of credit hours may be counted only once toward the total number of credit hours required for graduation.

GIS Emphasis Electives (6 hours)


Choose 6 hours from the following courses:

Minor requirements and/or free electives as needed to reach minimum 120 graduation hours


Students majoring in Geographic Information Science cannot use the Geospatial Technology minor to fulfill their minor requirement. Students must choose a different minor, in consultation with their advisor, to complete this requirement.
