A comprehensive program that prepares individuals to teach music at the K-12 education level, especially vocal/choral music and elementary and secondary general music.

Note:
Directed Northwest Core Requirement: must achieve a grade of C or better in each. Note:
Recital Attendance Requirement: MUS 19299 must be taken for 6 semesters. This course is an activity credit and does not carry academic credit. Required Courses (19 hours)
Applied Music (10-13 hours):
Voice Concentration
- Voice Credit Hours: 7 to 10
- Class Piano for Music Educators Credit Hours: 3
Piano Concentration
- Piano Credit Hours: 8
- Voice Credit Hours: 5
Vocal ensembles taken for either academic or activity credit:
Note:
Vocal ensembles should be taken each fall and spring semester of full-time enrollment for a total of 7 semesters minimum. Free electives as needed to reach minimum 120 graduation hours
This major, when completed under the B.M.E. Program, will meet Missouri teacher certification standards for Vocal Music grades K-12. |
