GEOL 27595 - Geologic Data Analysis and Scientific Writing

A studio course introducing different data types used in the geosciences and other disciplines to understand environmental problems, providing skills needed to analyze environmental and geologic data quantitatively. Some of the topics covered will include statistical data analysis including A studio course introducing different data types used in the geosciences and other disciplines to understand environmental problems, providing skills needed to analyze environmental and geologic data quantitatively. Some of the topics covered will include statistical data analysis, including computer-supported geologic applications of elementary statistics, time-series analysis, trend-surface analysis, factor analysis, cluster analysis, analysis of directional data, and regression analysis. Familiarity with basic computer skills is essential.

Prerequisite(s): MATH 17114 , familiarity with basic computer skills including EXCEL.
