ENGL 10321 - Teaching Reading in Middle and Secondary English Classrooms


Credit Hours: 3
This course addresses theoretical positions, instructional frameworks, and assessment approaches for teaching reading. Students studying to be middle and secondary English teachers will approach reading from multiple frameworks - including reading as information processing, reading as skills/strategies, reading as social-cultural construction, reading as inquiry, and reading as engagement - and consider instruction and assessment grounded in research-based best practices.
