BIOL 04622 - Environmental Issues


Credit Hours: 4

An overview of the science, politics and sociology of current environmental issues, including pollution, wastes, ozone depletion, acidic precipitation, greenhouse effect, deforestation, water use, energy and population. In addition to the course requirements for undergraduates, graduate students will be required to propose a college-level laboratory exercise for ecology or environmental courses and to complete and report on an independent research project.

Recommended Prerequisite(s): Recommended prerequisites: BIOL 04102 and BIOL 04103, CHEM 24114 and CHEM 24115, GEOL 27110 and GEOL 27111 or GEOL 27114 and GEOL 27115.
Hours per Week Three one-hour lectures plus one two-hour lab per week.
