REC 45245 - Inclusion in Recreation and Sport


Credit Hours: 3
Students are provided with opportunities to review their personal awareness and values related to various populations. An overview of general strengths and limitations faced by each group will be presented. Exploration of leisure services offered for various populations as well as adaptations to promote inclusion is stressed. Throughout the course students will have opportunities to personally reflect on their own beliefs and attitudes related to various populations. Emphasis is placed on developing an appreciation for differences, increasing empathy, and becoming aware of personal choice as it relates to the inclusion of others who are different than self. A basic overview of leisure for various populations will be presented using multiple teaching methods.

Corequisite(s): REC 45240  recommended.
